Efficiency Improvement Incentive

The Efficiency Improvement Incentive program is designed to help business customers enhance the energy efficiency of their facilities and improve their bottom line in the process.

When you are planning efficiency improvement projects in your facility, we can help you determine the potential cost savings and payback, and even assist in evaluating new equipment options. If the project will reduce energy consumption and power demand during our peak periods, you may be eligible for a cash incentive.

To qualify for an incentive, customers should receive pre-approval prior to implementing any efficiency improvements. Many types of efficiency improvement projects are eligible. Eligible measures include, but are not limited to:

  • Lighting
  • HVAC
  • Motors and drives
  • Compressed air systems
  • Electric chillers
  • Food service measures
  • Agricultural process equipment
  • Specialty measures (e.g., anti-condensate heater controls, LED refrigerated case lighting, guest room energy management controls, PC network management, vending machine control)
  • Energy efficiency studies

Minimum efficiency requirements and other terms and conditions apply. For more information, contact us at 837-5500 or email.

Focus on Energy also offers financial incentives to eligible business customers for installing qualifying energy efficiency measures. These measures include a variety of technologies including energy efficient lighting, motors, compressed air, and HVAC equipment.

Incentives are also available for maintaining equipment and studying the feasibility of a proposed energy efficiency project.

RFP for Energy Efficiency
We, along with our power supplier, WPPI Energy, have committed significant funding to our Request for Proposals (RFP) for Energy Efficiency. The program is designed to encourage investment by large commercial and industrial utility customers in energy efficient improvements. Up to $250,000 of incentive funding is available for each bid cycle.

The RFP seeks large efficiency projects that reduce annual total energy consumption by 100,000 kilowatt-hours or more, and/or projects that will reduce the on-peak electrical demand by at least 20 kilowatts from 1 PM to 4 PM during the months of June, July, and August

Proposals may include multiple energy saving measures. Proposals may include energy savings measures from multiple facilities, as long as each facility is in a WPPI Energy member service and is owned and operated by the same parent company.

New Construction Program
The New Construction Program works with prospective building owners and developers, design professionals, and construction contractors to deliver high performance buildings that provide improved energy efficiency, peak load reduction, improved systems performance, and greater comfort. View flyer

Energy savings will be accomplished by simulating incremental improvements of efficiency in lighting, HVAC, and other building systems. The program seeks to capture synergistic energy savings by encouraging the design and construction of buildings as integrated systems.

Shared Savings Program
Has your business delayed the replacement or improvement of inefficient equipment and building components because of concerns about the initial purchase costs?

Most business people understand that energy efficiency projects offer attractive returns on investment and other long-term benefits. However, it is common for customers to defer energy cost reduction measures because of first-cost barriers. The Shared Savings Program is designed to help you overcome these initial cost barriers by providing up-front capital to advance energy efficiency improvements.

OVERVIEW

Through the Shared Savings Program, a customer may receive up to $50,000 to implement qualifying energy efficiency improvements or advance energy cost savings. The customer then repays the funding through installments on their monthly utility bill. Often the payments are less than the energy cost savings, resulting in a positive cash flow for the customer.

Funding can range from $2,500 to $50,000 based on the cost and energy savings potential of the project, and will not exceed the project cost.

Projects may include any new electrical energy-saving or demand-reducing measure that results in lasting impacts for the facility. view flier

HOW TO GET STARTED

Contact us for more information. Your Energy Services Representative (ESR) will work with you to identify eligible electrical projects and help you compile the necessary information for the application.

CUSTOMER ELIGIBILITY

  • Customer must have three years of established utility bill payment history.
  • Customer must complete an application package for consideration.
  • Customer must pass a comprehensive credit review.

PROJECT ELIGIBILITY

  • Project equipment must meet minimum efficiency requirements.
  • Project must reduce electric use and/or electric demand for the duration of the repayment period (60 months) at a minimum.
  • Customer must agree with all requirements relevant to the location and installation of project equipment as defined in the agreement.
  • Project cannot be implemented (including any engineering and/or equipment purchases) prior to the written execution of an agreement between the customer and utility.
  • Previously installed or retrofitted measures do not qualify.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Shared Savings funding will equal the project energy savings over 60 months less any prescriptive incentives or other outside funding. The total combined funding will not exceed the project cost.
  • Repayment occurs over a 60-month period.
  • Payments include a 2% APR service fee, compounded monthly.
  • Project funding can range from $2,500 to $50,000 based on the cost and energy savings potential of the energy efficiency improvements.
  • Upon completion, applicant must submit a Certificate of Project Completion form.
