Meter Reading/ Billing
It is the goal of Sun Prairie Utilities to read every meter every month. Depending on your location and billing cycle, your meter will be read by our friendly and courteous meter readers approximately 7-10 days in advance of the date your bill is issued. We will not read your meter on weekends or holidays. Please ensure our readers have access to all meters. Provide appropriate lock combinations or keys, and keep a clear pathway. Please keep shrubbery trimmed and sidewalks shoveled.

Cross-connections
To keep our water supply safe, state codes require cross-connection protection so to not allow any back flow of contaminating agents into the water main system. Primary locations for this protection would be outdoor faucets where a garden hose could be connected, a laundry wash tub where a clothes washing machine may drain, or where any collection or pooling of water can reach a water source. Our water crew will check for proper back flow protection while conducting State required periodic water meter testing in buildings. cross-connection education brochure
